National Speech and Debate Tournament

The National Speech and Debate Association is the largest interscholastic speech and debate organization serving middle school, high school, and collegiate students in the United States.  Each year, thousands of students from more than 3,000 schools participate in smaller district competitions across the country, vying for a coveted spot at the National Tournament.  Champions are crowned in 11 main events, and thousands of dollars in college scholarships are awarded annually.

Blakely and Caroline were honored at the award ceremony with the Show of Excellence Award for students that have qualified for and participated in the national tournament for all four years of high school.  This is a prestigious award, which only at about two dozen students receive each year.

Towanda Jr/Sr High School would like to congratulate Tyler, Blakely, and Caroline for qualifying and participating in this national tournament.  We would also like to recognize and thank Julie Larnard-Newbury for the time she spends coaching the talented speech and debate students at Towanda Jr/Sr High School.
