An Interview with Mrs. Pratt (by Emily Kintner)

One of our very first teachers to take part in this new project of ours is Mrs. Pratt. Maggie Pratt, one of our few Health & Physical Education teachers, is here to enjoy herself and hopefully leave a mark in the memories of students that are to graduate. One of the few questions we asked Mrs. Pratt will reveal some amazing traits of her large personality and the road she went down to get to where she’s at now.

After asking her how her first day on the job was, she had responded with enthusiasm as she explained the wonderful day she had. Mrs. Pratt told us that on her first day, she was met with helpful co-workers and excited students. Assuming she was rather anxious, I bet the friendly employees of Towanda made her feel right at home here! She also added that the 7th graders were especially one of the most important groups that had come to her that day. Moving up to the high school and seeing them adapt to the new surroundings like herself, I bet she found herself feeling much like one of those new students as well!

Another question we asked her was if she had past experiences with teaching or helping in a high school, and she had said yes. After getting her diploma, she had turned to Athens School District to experience her first time working with students. Mrs. Pratt then spent a year there teaching Health & Physical Education, as she’s doing with this school now. Hopefully, her time was well spent there, and she learned a lot of lessons, and she can use those skills here!  On the topic of diploma and skills, we also learned that our wonderful teacher got her Bachelor’s in Health & Physical Education at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. While in college, she had mentioned that her favorite class was Anatomy and Physiology.

We also have word that Mrs. Pratt is married, so sorry guys. She’s wedded to her high school sweetheart, Scott Pratt. And October 1st was their two-year anniversary so congratulate them if you see them! And now, the two are happily living together nearby. After questioning her about her childhood, she told us that she grew up in Liberty Corners. Now, growing up from there, she says that she is a fun, friendly and energetic person overall!

Finally, the last question, we had asked her was how she felt about vegetarians eating animal crackers, and she explained that they can eat them, unless they couldn’t stand seeing the cute little graham cracker giraffe being eaten -- poor little thing!

We hope our readers have learned something interesting about our lovely newcomer! We hope to hear good feedback and . . . Stay classy, Towanda!
