Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 school year. The staff at Towanda Jr/Sr High School is excited to begin working with our students. Our goal is to provide a wide range of opportunities for our students in hopes of providing them with a well-rounded educational experience.
Academics is our primary purpose in hopes of preparing our students for life after high school. We continue to offer several dual enrollment classes through Lackawanna College and Keystone College. Also, our partnership is very strong with the Northern Tier Career Center for those students interested in various vocational trades. We are pleased to introduce our 8th grade STEM cycle class this year. Every student in that grade will get a nice introduction to this study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In addition, a new Forensic Science elective has been added for our older students. This course will give students an opportunity to process a crime scene, using various types of evidence. We will continue to push to provide the best academic experiences for our students!
Having our students involved with the arts is also an important part of our experience. Our band and choral programs continue to be a source of pride to our school. Our new piano lab is an excellent addition to our musical programs. This allows us to offer a piano elective to our students, along with our existing guitar and music theory classes. We look forward to continued success with our drama programs. Forensics, One-Act Play, and Poetry Out Loud have been instrumental activities for many of our students. In addition, the talents of our students will once again be on display with our annual Spring Musical. Finally, our students take advantage of the many electives provided by our art department. As you walk through our school, you will observe many of the creative pieces produced by our students.
Lastly, we are proud to offer over 35 sports at various levels for our male and female athletes. The character and teamwork that these sports afford our students also impact in the development of them as people and student athletes. We cherish the pride that our teams and athletes bring to our school atmosphere and culture. Come out and support our students athletes as they represent our school and community.
Once again, welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. Let's make it a good one! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.
