FRESHMAN CAREER/COLLEGE CLASSES HELD

On Tuesday October 21, 2014 students met with guidance counselors Mrs. Adams and Mrs. LaFrance for information regarding planning for careers and college upon high school graduation.  Topics included graduation requirements, transcripts and GPA, and students completed an interest inventory on Career Cruising's website.  Students were encouraged to utilize the information presented to help them in the future and to follow up with their guidance counselor with additional questions or concerns.

SOPHOMORES TO TAKE PSAT'S

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit /Scholarship Qualifying Test will be administered to all sophomore Towanda Junior/Senior High School students on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This test is offered by the College Entrance Examination Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to primarily high school juniors across the nation.  While this test has been devised for specific purposes for juniors, it has value for underclassmen.  When the PSAT results are returned to students, they include the correct answers to all questions, as well as the test booklet.  SAT experts state that using the answer sheet to review the PSAT questions after the test can be one of the better ways to prepare for the SAT.

Students who take the test will receive free access to My College QuickStart, an online college and career planning tool that includes an online test score report; a customized SAT study plan; a personality test; and personalized lists of colleges, majors, and careers.

There is NO FEE for Sophomores for this test as the cost of the exam will be paid by the Towanda Area School District.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Guidance Office at 268-2059.
