Towanda Jr. Sr. High School is proud to be the host site for the annual Career Day sponsored by the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission. Students from all Bradford and Sullivan County High Schools are invited to this event. Students in grades 6,8, and 9 will be invited to attend from Towanda School District.
The next College/Career Fair will be held for students in grades 9 - 12 on Wednesday, April 10th. Students interested in attending will be invited to sign up in homeroom or the guidance office.
Course Scheduling Meetings for the 2019-2020 School Year
Students in grades 8 - 11 received information for selecting courses for the 2019-20 school year on Thursday, February 7th, 2019. Students were given course selection sheets which need to be returned to the guidance office by Friday, February 15th. Students and parents with questions are encouraged to contact the guidance office.
GUIDANCE OFFICE WELCOMES NEW CAREER COACH
The guidance office is pleased to welcome our new Career Coach, Rachel Selleck. Rachel graduated from Troy High School and continued her education at Elmira College where she received degrees in Anthropology/Sociology and Business. Ms. Selleck has worked for local businesses in marketing and accounts receivable. She was excited for the opportunity to become a Career Coach with Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission in August of this year. Ms. Selleck is excited to begin meeting with students to give them the extra support they need to feel secure in their decisions for the future. Ms. Selleck will work with students in grades 7 - 12. She also works with students in the Northeast Bradford and Tunkhannock School Districts, as well as the Susquehanna County Career and Technical Center.
PSAT TO BE ADMINISTERED
We are pleased to be offering the PSAT to all 10th grade students free of charge on Wednesday, October 10th. Students in grades 9 and 11 may also sign up to take the exam for a fee of $16.00 made payable to Towanda Area School District. Students must be signed up to take the exam by October 3rd.
ASVAB TO BE ADMINISTERED
Interested juniors and seniors may sign up to take the ASVAB test that will be given on Thursday, October 11th in the morning. There is no cost for the exam, but students should be signed up in the guidance office by Thursday, October 4th. There must be at least 10 students signed up for the exam in order for it to be given here at the school.
Any senior who needs to take either the ACT or SAT should be mindful of registration deadlines for fall tests. The next SAT test will be offered at Towanda Jr. Sr. High School on October 6, 2018, and registrations are due by September 7th (late registrations for an added fee will be accepted until September 26th). The next ACT test will be offered on October 27th at Canton, Sayre, or Wyalusing High School and the registration deadline is September 28th.
The first college/career fair will be held for students in grades 9 - 12 on Wednesday, September 19th. Students interested in attending will be invited to sign up in homeroom or the guidance office.
College Fair at Mansfield University
Mansfield University will again be the host site for a college fair featuring 100 post secondary institutions and military representatives on Friday September 21st. Interested Juniors and Seniors should stop by the guidance office for a permission slip. The trip will be during the school day, and space is limited so students are encouraged to return forms ASAP, as spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.
