Weather Related Closures - Virtual Instruction Days

Students will be marked for attendance on virtual instruction days. Attendance will be based on student participation (including contact with teachers or logging in to their assignments) or submission of assignments. All assignments will be graded and counted as a regular assignment. Students will have 3 days following the snow day to submit work to their teacher.

Please note that these virtual instruction days for weather-related closures are different from virtual instruction for COVID-related closures. The following chart will provide some of the differences:

Virtual due to Weather Closure

Virtual due to Quarantine/COVID

Student Expectations

·         Students will log in to Schoology during the virtual snow day, which will NOT include live, scheduled instruction

·         Students will check their classes and complete any assignments posted by teachers – schedule is flexible

·         Students will submit assignments within 3 days following the virtual snow day

·         Students may contact teachers for additional support throughout the day (9:00AM-12:00PM; 1:00-3:00PM)

·         Students will participate in scheduled classes (following their typical class schedule), which will include live instruction

·         Students will log into Zoom meetings at the required time

·         Students will complete all assignments/assessments as required by the teacher

·         Students may contact teachers for additional support (teacher will return student call/email within the school day)

Finally, please understand that our desire is to provide in-person instruction as much as possible. If the weather allows us to bring students in to school using a delayed start or early dismissal, we will do so. Virtual instruction days will be used when weather forecasts indicate school can not safely open. Our teachers will prepare students for the possibility of these virtual instruction days. When we implement a virtual instruction day, you will receive a phone call in the morning, and it will be reported on news media sites. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the main office of their school.  Thank you for patience, flexibility, and understanding as we navigate through this school year.
