Comprehensive Plan Public Review

We are proposing several goals for our district:

  • First, we want to address academics. While our students continue to make gains each year, our district is just below the statewide averages. We believe we can do better. In the next 3 years, we would like to see 60% of our students proficient in Language Arts and 50% of our students proficient in Math.
  • Second, we want to address attendance. Our current attendance rate is approximately 75%, which means 25% of our students are not in school on a regular basis. Obviously, we believe attendance is important because students can not learn if they are not in school. This is also an important life skill – employers want employees that show up to work. We want to be more proactive in working with students and families to develop good attendance habits, and we believe we can improve our attendance rate.
  • Finally, we want to address anxiety and self-confidence. We recognize that many students are nervous or anxious about school. We want our schools to be a safe place for all students, and we want to provide supports to help all students.

I invite you to review our Comprehensive Plan, posted here and on our website. You can submit any comments and questions by emailing Joel Spinney at [email protected].  A final version of this Plan will be submitted to the Board of School Directors for formal approval on March 18, 2024. We believe education is a partnership between family, school and community. With that in mind, we look forward to your feedback.
