Welcome Back to TAES

The faculty and staff at TAES wish Mark Vaughn, Duane Smith and Darlene Innocenzo well in their retirement. These three individuals will be missed and we extend our many thanks for their years of service to the Towanda Area School District.

Mr. Gregory Werner will be taking on the role of fifth and sixth grade band. He will prepare these band students for a Veteran’s Day Concert, as well as for a Winter and Spring band concert. Mr. Werner will be the five through twelve band teacher, including Marching Band and Jazz Band. At Towanda Area Elementary School Mr. Vincenzo Mignano will join our team and will be teaching music during the grade level cycle classes, as well as well as conducting our third and fourth grade chorus concerts in the spring of 2020. Mr. Damien Wickizer will work with our fifth and sixth grade chorus students, preparing them for their concert in the winter, as well as a Veteran’s Day program. Towanda Area Elementary School welcomes Mr. Donald Barto as our elementary art teacher. Mr. Barto returns to the district after having been previously furloughed. He will teach third through sixth grade art at Towanda Area Elementary School.

With Mrs. Darlene Innocenzo’s retirement, Miss Kaitlyn Fraunfelter will be teaching sixth grade mathematics. Miss Katelyn Serfass will join our fifth grade team and teach mathematics. Miss Serfass has returned to our area to be closer to home after having taught in North Carolina. Ms. Kristine Burke will also be joining the fifth grade team to teach Science. Ms. Burke has an extensive background teaching science and has taught in Chicago, Illinois and New Hampshire. She has returned to the area to be close to family. Mr. Jacob McGuire and Mrs. Rebecca Vroman are our newest members on the third grade team focusing on ELA. Mrs. Bailey has transitioned to third grade learning support. Mrs. Victoria Kinner is our new building secretary at Towanda Area Elementary School and has joined the office staff.

During the 2019-2020 school year, TAES will continue to implement a program of School-Wide Positive Behavior. Please remind your child/children that in order to earn the monthly rewards, he/she must demonstrate the individual PRIDE expectations throughout each month, the choice is his/hers to make each day.

In order to increase community awareness of school activities and events, the Towanda Area Elementary School will send out notifications on the Towanda Area School District App and through Skylerts. Be sure to download the App so that you can receive messages wherever you are! The Towanda Area School District app is free for your mobile device providing parents with quick access to everything school-related including calendars, contact information for teachers and administrators, important documents, cafeteria menus, and

more. The app enables parents, students, faculty and staff with the ability to stay connected and informed about what is happening at the Towanda Area School District. Go to http://siap.ps/9c7b2a to download the Towanda Area School District App.

I look forward to a great school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
