J. Andrew Morrow Mad Scientist

Throughout the third marking period of the 2022 school year, the students of J. Andrew Morrow exhibited respectful behavior and in turn earned a unique "Fun Friday" experience. They were entertained by Towanda Area School District Science Teacher Mr. Clayton Weaver (who played the part of a "mad scientist") and his assistant, Miss Hannah Gilliland who is student teaching with Mr. Weaver at this time. Together Mr. Weaver and Miss Gilliland treated the students to a variety of chemistry experiments while explaining the scientific reasoning involved in each one. These experiments included the creation of "elephant toothpaste," a Mentos and Diet Soda "Fountain," a reaction between sodium metal and water, and even a disappearing Gummy Bear. Weaver mentioned that this experience would not have been possible without High School Science Teacher Mrs. Meredith Ward who helped source the chemicals and provide instruction on how to safely conduct the experiments. Also, the faculty and staff of JAM would like to thank their principal Dawn Hart for allowing this activity to occur, as well as Towanda Jr./Sr. High School Principal, Rebecca Stanfield who agreed to let Mr. Weaver assume this role for the afternoon.
