8th Grade Students Tour Facility in Dushore, PA

On Tuesday December 20, 2022, Towanda Area School District 8th grade student members of the “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” team traveled south on route 220 to tour “Unity Laundry Systems/Hoffman-NY” in Dushore, PA.  They met with CEO Jonathan Benjamin, Production Manager Mike Rogan and Supply Chain Manager Nicole Lutz prior to touring the facility and interviewing employees. Unity Laundry Systems are the manufacturer of high-end Hoffman laundry presses and boiler systems which are built from scratch and shipped all over the world from their facility in Dushore.

The What’s So Cool About Manufacturing is an annual video contest for students across Pennsylvania to explore cool manufacturing careers and produce profiles of companies.  This contest is sponsored by the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission our local economic development group. Our team of students include Ava Anderson, Allison Chilson, Aiden Davidson, Jackson Frederick, Jaydon Stranger and Evan Young, who are currently working on compiling their hours of video into a two to two and ½ minute video for submission to the contest.

The students will be providing promotional material in the future to ask for your votes on the finished video submission.

On a side note, one of the Welders at Unity is a 2019 Towanda Area School District & NTCC Welding Graduate – Ayden Parsons.
