COVID Update 10/14/2020
Yesterday, October 13, 2020, a teacher at Towanda Area Elementary School was deemed a "presumptive positive" for COVID-19, even though test results came back negative. The Teacher is doing fine and following all protocols. The teacher has been in quarantine since Friday, October 9, 2020. Contact tracing has been conducted by the Department of Health. No students have been identified as close contacts, but 5 staff members are now in quarantine. They are not exhibiting symptoms and will be providing instruction to our students remotely.
Also, we were notified this morning that a teacher at the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive. This teacher has not been in school since Friday, October 9, 2020. Contact tracing will be conducted through the Department of Health.
Based on conversations with the Department of Health, we are not changing learning models at this time due to safety protocols in place throughout the district. Our goal is to provide in-person learning for our students, while taking steps to ensure everyone's health and safety.
