Scholarship Opportunity – Seniors
Information is available concerning the Guthrie Health Professions Scholarship Program. You must be entering the health care profession or have a parent employed by Guthrie. Applications are available in the Guidance Office or on line at www.guthrie.org/press-releases. The application deadline is Friday, January 24, 2020.
Information is now available from Community Foundation on various local scholarships available. Applications and instructions are available online at www.communityfund.org Click on the “students” link and the top of the page and follow the instructions. The Community Foundation also sponsors the A Hope 4 Lyme Scholarship, the George Douglas/LPGA Corning Classic Scholarship, Chemung Canal Trust Company Scholarship and the Twin Tiers Youth for Christ Scholarship. Applications and information for these scholarships are available in the guidance office as well as online... The application deadline is February14, 2020.
Information is available from the Epilepsy Association Western & Central PA concerning their annual scholarship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who have epilepsy/seizure disorder and going on to post-secondary school. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications must be received by April 1, 2020.
Information is available from the PA American Legion concerning various scholarships. Information is available in the guidance office or online at www.pa-legion.com/programs
Information is available concerning the United Steelworkers Hugh Carcella Scholarship Program. Applicants must be high school seniors and be a member in good standing, or the son or daughter or legal ward of a member of a United Steelworkers, District 10 local union; or the son or daughter or legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing with USW at the time of their retirement or death. Additional information is available in the guidance office. The application deadline is March 15, 2020.
Information concerning the 2020 Blair E. Caboot Memorial Scholarship has been received from Northeastern PA Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Applicants must attend school in one of the following counties: Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike Susquehanna, Sullivan, Wayne or Wyoming; must excel in mathematics in high school and have future plans in a mathematics related field. Applications are available online at www.npctm.org. The application window is open from October 14, 2019 through March 2, 2020.
Various scholarships are available from College Board through the College Board Opportunity Scholarships and Recognition Program. The scholarship program was created to celebrate and reward the effort students put into getting ready for college. Additional information is available in the guidance office, as well as online at https://opportunity.collegeboard.org The final application deadline is February 29, 2020.
Scholarship Information – Juniors
Information for juniors interested in the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship is available in the guidance office. The College Prep Scholarship is open to juniors who have shown academic excellence despite facing long-term economic challenges. Additional information is available in the Guidance Office or online at www.questbridge.org
Information is available concerning the 2020 Coolidge Scholarship. Any high school junior who plans on enrolling in college in the fall of 2021 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply. The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for4 undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United State. Applications and additional information is available at www.coolidgescholars.org The application deadline is 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16.

TOWANDA HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
WILL HOLD A FINANCIAL AID NIGHT
The Towanda High School Guidance Office will co-sponsor a Financial Aid Information Night with Wyalusing and Northeast Bradford High Schools. The Financial Aid Night will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Towanda Junior/Senior High School Auditorium. Ms. Robin Walker, Regional Director for the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), will be on hand to present information on the various programs within the Pennsylvania financial aid system. She will also give very specific information on the application process and the correct procedure for completing the online and paper forms for financial aid. The information will be for general purposes for any college.
The program is free of charge and would be valuable for anyone who has a child planning on going to college in the next few years. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Guidance Office at 268-2059.
