Guided Math

Towanda Elementary School Third Grade teachers Liz Maurer, Mary Smith and Julie Larson along with students Owen Savercool, Adrianna Austin and Dominik Miller presented the Guided Math program they have implemented to the school board members. Both the students and teachers were excited to share the success of the Guided Math program.

2nd Grade Tower Garden

Second-graders in Mrs. Adams’ and Mrs. Lane’s classes are growing fruits and vegetables! The teachers were able to purchase a Tower Garden through a Venture Grant from the Towanda Area Education Foundation.

Winter Sports Awards

The Winter Sports Awards Program is Wednesday, March 27th at 6:00 PM in the High School New Auditorium for those students who participated in a JV or Varsity Winter Sport. Following the awards refreshments will be provided by the Towanda Booster Club.

TAES 2019 PSSAs

The 2019 Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSA) will be administered to Towanda Area Elementary School students in grades three through six during April and May 2019. The English Language Arts Assessment will be administered to students April 15 – 17, 2019. The Mathematics Assessment will be administered to students on April 30 and May 1, 2019. The Science Assessment will be administered to 4th-grade students on April 29, 2019.

Students Compete in Governor's STEM Challenge

John Schoonover, Kaigan Stroop, Coleman Butler, and Hannah Ryck all competed together in the 2019 PA Governor's STEM challenge finishing 2nd place overall in the regional competition with their invention the "Backpack Rescue Device". The BRD was designed by the students to assist an injured person in the back country of Pennsylvania to get to a place where paramedics could access them. The BRD was designed to be used as a backpack and then unfold into a wheeled stretcher that could be handled by one person over rough terrain. Mr. Jonathan Sayre and Mr. Jed Lezak helped the students with their design.
