Cole Barrett Inducted Into "700 Club"

Mrs. Rebecca Stanfield, Principal of Towanda Junior/Senior High School, has announced that Cole Barrett has been named to the district’s “700 Club”. This club is designed to recognize students who score a 700 or more (out of 800) on at least one section of a College Board SAT test. This is a feat that only about five percent of the nation’s students attain. The average score on the SAT is about 500 per section (reading, math, and writing). Cole scored above 700 in the Reading/Writing section.

School Spirit Events

Attention all students & parents: This is a big week! On Friday, Towanda Black Knights will defend the Bronze Helmet! Each year Towanda and Wyalusing compete in a food drive! Not only does this help our community but also is a great display of who has the most school spirit! Bring in non-perishable, non-expired food items throughout this week and turn them into your homeroom teacher. The grade with the most items will win an ice cream party!!!

TASD Collaborates with CHOP

TASD is excited to be collaborating with CHOP to offer a weekend backpack program. We have 157 students signed up for the first backpack distribution next weekend with an additional 45 students signed up to begin the following week. Students will receive a weekend bag filled with 3 dinners, 3 breakfasts, 3 fruits and 5 snacks that are easy to prepare. If you or your business would like to sponsor a child, it's $45 for the entire school year.

Towanda Jr/Sr High School Secure

PA State Police, utilizing bomb dogs, have informed us that the Jr/Sr High School is safe and secure. School will open on schedule tomorrow morning. All after school practices are cancelled for this evening. The bonfire at Riverfront will be held as scheduled. We understand that students may have things in the High School. Please do not come to the school this evening. It will be locked. Be assured that those items will be locked up securely for them to get tomorrow morning. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience and understanding with such an unfortunate situation.

Early Dismissal

Students are begin dismissed early today beginning with J. Andrew Morrow students at 11:50. Towanda Elementary and Jr/Sr High School students will be dismissed at 12:00 from the Towanda Area Elementary School.

Jr/Sr High Spirit Week

This week at the high school we will be celebrating our homecoming for 2018. Our spirit week will feature daily themes and a pep assembly. Friday night we will crown our homecoming royalty at the football game and the week will culminate with our semi-formal dance on Saturday night at the high school. The spirit week activities are for all students but the dance will be for students in grades 9-12 only.

We would like to clarify the spirit week themes:
Tuesday will be Tie Dye day
Wednesday will be class color war day
Thursday will be celebrate your favorite decade day
And Friday will be show your Black and Orange spirit day.
