Our Hometown Hero

With all of the recent flooding, one student had the knowledge and courage to do the right thing when she saw something happen. Fourth grade student, Allison Chilson, called 911 to help a neighbor. Flood waters had swept away the home and the father and son were clinging to a tree calling for help. In a news interview, Allison credits her awareness and importance of her actions as having been learned at school during our programs. Towanda Area School District is extremely proud of her and presented her with a small token of gratitude for her life saving efforts at a recent School Board meeting. Black Knight Pride!

Rachael's Challenge

Today Towanda Jr/Sr High School students heard the inspiring story of Rachel Scott, whose example of kindness and acceptance was brought to light after she became the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy. They learned how Rachel’s Challenge is positively impacting K-12 classroom climate, culture and Social/Emotional Learning with powerful and sustainable life-changing programs. JAM Summer Box Tops

The J. Andrew Morrow School students collected 2,653 box tops over the Summer break. P.T.O. would like to thank everyone that collected and sent box tops into school. The following students were the top two collectors for each grade level and received a free movie pass. Joshua Chernosky and Landon Shanks for Kindergarten. Landon Hotaling and Ocealyn Lane for First Grade. Kyle Keeney and Brody Hennessy for Second Grade.

The Towanda Area School District Support Employees participated in the annual wellness training on Tuesday, August 21st. Local business provided training on a variety of topics.

TASD Staff Returns to School

The 2018-2019 school year began for TASD staff on Monday, August 20th. New Superintendent, Dennis Peachey, addressed the staff along with other presenters. The TASD Foundation Grant recipients were recognized along with the Grant of the Year Award winners, the K5 team, for their "Mad Science" project.
