TITLE I SCHOOL-PARENT AGREEMENT
TOWANDA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT

This School-Parent Agreement outlines responsibilities of the Towanda Area School District staff, parents and students, participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A (a Federal Grant), that will help children achieve academic success.
The Towanda Area School District values each parent as an integral partner for students to reach and exceed the Pennsylvania State Department of Education’s high academic standards. Collaboratively, parents and school staff build, maintain, and work within a vital partnership to provide an exceptional student learning experience.

School Responsibilities

The Towanda Area School District will:

  • Treat each child with dignity and respect and provide a positive learning environment.
  • Provide high quality, standards-based curriculum and instruction in supportive classrooms. Curriculum is reviewed annually.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences for each child.
  • Keep lines of communication open between home and school, and encourage parent participation in the educational process including attendance at parent teacher conferences. Staff can be reached through phone, email, and in-person meetings.
  • Provide communication in a language parents can understand.
  • Present clear expectations for performance to students and parents through progress reports three times during the school year.
  • Provide assistance in understanding academic achievement standards, assessments, and how to monitor your child’s progress, including informational meetings, open houses, and posting parent resources.
  • Review this agreement annually, and distribute to parents.

Parent’s Responsibilities

As parents, we ask that you support your children’s learning in the following ways:

  • Volunteer at school, as able.
  • Attend school functions, including parent teacher conferences.
  • Encourage your child to take time to read and complete homework assignments to the best of their ability.
  • Supply a variety of reading materials. The local library can serve as a resource for reading materials.
  • Ensure that your child attends school daily, and arrives at school on time.
  • Contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

Student’s Responsibilities

Students, we ask that you take steps to be successful in school, such as:

  • Pay attention and follow directions. Follow school rules.
  • Attend school daily, engage in class activities, and complete all assignments.
  • Talk to your parents about what you learn at school.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Thank you for your engagement in your child’s education.
